Serve with eeCorps Kansas! Led by the Kansas Association for Conservation and Environmental Education (KACEE), the Environmental Education Corps (eeCorps) AmeriCorps Program places AmeriCorps members at organizations throughout Kansas to focus on increasing environmental literacy for PreK-12 students and building capacity for environmental education in the region.

eeCorps works directly with teachers, schools, and environmental education providers to support them in expanding the reach and increasing the impact of EE programming while providing access to equitable learning experiences for all PreK-12 students.

David Traylor Zoo

Entrance to David Traylor Zoo in Emporia, Kansas

This eeCorps position will be located at the David Traylor Zoo, which is located in Emporia, KS.

Serving the Emporia area, David Traylor Zoo is one of the smallest accredited zoos in the nation. The zoo features a walk-through area where you can enjoy a mixture of native and endangered species, as well as exceptional botanical displays. 


Serving PreK-12 students, David Traylor Zoo is a year-round destination for nature-based learning adventures. Field trips and camps provide attendees with an up-close exploration of the natural world, featuring live animal encounters and guided Zoo tours. Trained staff bring to life a variety of educational topics from animal adaptations to wildlife conservation. You will also be supporting teachers in carrying environmental education into their classrooms.

PSU Nature Reach

This eeCorps position will be located at Pittsburg State University Nature Reach, which is located in Pittsburg, KS.


Serving the Southeast Kansas area, Nature Reach Program provides quality environmental education for all while fostering an appreciation for and connection to animals and our natural world. Nature Reach is home to a variety of animals, which are often used as ambassadors for learning programs, and offers programs featuring their collection of raptors.  From summer camps and reading programs to onsite and offsite environmental education programming for PreK-12 classrooms, this program has a huge impact on students of all ages and abilities.

Ernie Miller Nature Center

Entrance to Ernie Miller Nature Center in Olathe, Kansas

This eeCorps position will be located at the Ernie Miller Nature Center, which is located in Olathe, KS.


Serving the Kansas City area, Ernie Miller Nature Center offers a nature oasis in an urban setting with a large park and trail system and animal exhibits, used as a learning lab for PreK-12 students to develop a greater appreciation and understanding of nature. From camps to programs for preschool through high school as well as home school, to special events, learning is in their nature.


This position will also be supporting teachers in bringing environmental education into their classrooms.

Great Plains Nature Center

Entrance to Great Plains Nature Center in Wichita, Kansas

This eeCorps position will be located at the Great Plains Nature Center in Wichita, KS.


Serving the city of Wichita and the surrounding areas, the Great Plains Nature Center sits on Chisholm Creek Park, a nature oasis in the middle of the city with 280 acres of prairies, wetlands, and woodlands, viewable from walking trails. Inside the nature center are exhibits focused on healthy habitats and live animal ambassadors on display, which are used for environmental education programs. Special events, field trips, weekly programs, and outreach provides the community with free, hands-on nature based learning.


This position will also support teachers in bringing environmental education into their classrooms.
